A TSD (Time-Speed-Distance) rally is a type of motorsport rally where the goal is to drive each segment of a course in a specified time at a specified average speed ¹. It’s not about being the fastest, but about being precise and accurate. Contestants usually compete in teams, with an amateur driver and navigator, and start at fixed intervals ¹.
Key Characteristics:
Public Roads:
TSD rallies are usually held on public roads, but sometimes include off-road and track sections ¹.
Route Schedule:
Teams are given a route schedule prior to departure, which contains information on designated speeds and times for each segment ¹ ².
Marshals:
Teams encounter marshals along the route, who record their arrival times ¹.
Penalties:
Teams are penalized for being early or late, with stricter penalties for speeding ¹ ³.
